I recently discovered that there are ways to get a free one way link. I found a few companies online that will handle the three way link exchange and then it all looks really legitimate compared to the reciprocal links that can get you into trouble with the search engines. I heard of a guy that was sending reciprocal links back and forth between two sites he owned and the search engines sandboxed both of his sites.

I am smart enough not to overdo the free one way link, but just smart enough to also know that if you work with several different people on the three way link exchange, it all looks completely organic. I have been also paying for some links and it has helped me climb to the second page of the search engines for several keywords that I need to rank for, in order for my site to stay up and running and pay for itself.

I have decided not to share all my knowledge of how to get a free one way link with some friends of mine since we all have similar sites and I need mine to outrank theirs first, before I let them in on my little secret. I am signing on with four people to do this three way link exchange and they find four people, and so on.
